Company has another 99 on firm order and will receive another 16, of the Leap-1A powered jets, this year.

American also plans to remove 10 757s and its last 30 MD-80s in 2019, as A321s arrive. Could convert some orders to the A321 LR.

Needs an asterisk - I have taken * many* flights on American Airlines A321's.

I’m sure they were bought by USAir/AWA, but still.

Forgot to mention I was talking about the A321 Neo model.

It has been fixed.

Ah - makes sense.  Truth be told, I don’t think AA had *bought* any A321's previously - they just acquired them through the US Airways merger, I believe.

Regardless, the A321 LR conversions would come in handy, as they will be able to go transatlantic on skinny routes, with that thing, possibly replacing United and their antique 757's.

Even their current A321's fly West Coast-Hawaii and transcontinental - those routes are about the same length as NE US-British Isles.

Agree that they’ll open up some skinny routes for AA - and as an AA frequent flyer, I love the idea of avoiding LHR.
